Making a lobster cake

good morning,
Today I am going to try to bake a lobster cake. The cake is going to have chocolate and vanilla cake. This is going to be my first time using modeling chocolate. I hope it works out ok. It will only be my second time using fondant. I am making everything homemade. No more boxes for me!! Thank god for family. I could not due this alone, they are such a big help. Right now I'm going to bake the cake. I will let you know how it comes out.

I just made my first chocolate frosting. I had Peter try it, he said it was good. The recipe called for vanilla, I didn't put it in. The thought being that the vanilla would overpower the chocolate and I didn't want that. I am going to use the frosting between my double chocolate cake that I am using as the base for the Lobster cake. The Lobster portion of the cake will be made out of pound cake. That is in the oven right now. I will let you all know how it turns out. Wish me luck.

Today I discovered that heat is not a friend to icing or fondant. We had so much trouble with it, the fondant getting sticky the icing dripping off of the cake. I was not that happy. However when we delivered the cake it was a huge hit.

Just got a call from Graig and Allison, they said the cake was the hit of the party. I'm so very happy about that. Everyone there loved it. The best part it tasted good. Really good.

So for my first Lobster cake, they loved the look and the taste. All I care is that the people I make the cakes for are happy. They were happy so I am happy.

Wish me luck on the next cake, Lego Robotics
